Prysmian offers a wide and diverse range of optical cables, a number of our key designs are described below.
Designed for blown or pulled installation multi-loose tube cables typically comprise 12-24 optical fibres per tube stranded around a central strength member and are available in configurations of between 24-864 optical fibres. Many design variants are available including those for direct burial, rodent resistance and with low smoke zero halogen sheathing for use inside buildings.
Designed for blown installation in the external access network in small sub-ducts these reduced diameter cables typically comprise 12-36 optical fibres per tube stranded around a central strength member and are available in configurations of between 24-288 optical fibres. Prysmian’s 8.1mm 288F cable contains 288 G657A2 200um BendBrightXS fibres. Constructed from eight coloured modules with 36 fibres in each, and 12 coloured rings marked for easy identification.
Flextube cables offer many advantages compared to standard loose tube optical cable. The innovative micromodule design incorporates soft, flexible fibre units. Cables are more fibre dense and quicker to prepare and install. A fibre dense design and easier handling translate to major savings in terms of time. Available in fibre counts from 24 to over 2000!
Designed to maximize fibre density and duct space utilization, Prysmian’s MassLink™ with FlexRibbon™ Technology products compact the maximum fibre count into the smallest cable possible by using extremely flexible fibre ribbons that can be rolled up for high packing densities or laid flat for ribbon splicing.
Ribbon Fibre Cables offer extremely high fibre density as well as the advantages of mass fusion splicing where 12 fibres can be fusion spliced in one operation. This has the potential to speed up network roll out and significantly cut splicing and installation costs. Prysmian Group offers an extensive range of ribbon optical cables. Cables are available in a wide mix of fibre counts, fibre types and mechanical constructions depending on the specific application.
